I'm not the biggest fan of concept maps. I often find them visually confusing and I have a difficult time making them. I do see how they help other people and I don't often use them, because I've found ways to help myself retain information that just work better for me.
On another note, I had mixed feelings about going over theories that I had learned about before in another class. (I've taken HCM 364 already, and we had learned most of these theories in that class.) It was a little tedious, but I think being exposed to the same theories over and over can help reinforce them. Leadership Assessment Results:
Strengths:
I addressed my weakness of over thinking, by applying the theory of planned behavior to myself in a separate document. Impatience is a weakness which will take time to overcome, but actively practicing relaxation techniques (i.e. relaxation breathing, actively relaxing muscles, etc.) when I begin to feel impatient will improve my patience with others. By learning what details are the most important in the situations where I will be placed in the healthcare setting, I will be able to better pay attention to relevant details and analyze those. Strengthening this skill is something that will take hands on experience, not just theoretical knowledge. To “grow” my own self-motivation, I could take the time to learn specific self-motivation techniques. |
